Wahoo for Workout Wednesdays!
Healthcare. Nutrition. Exercise.
These words are on the lips of people all across our community right now. Let’s eat better. Let’s work out more. Let’s get better at preventative care. And let’s manage existing health issues better.
We are talking about the same things at Pre-GED School. And this school year, we are working together to do something about it. Every Wednesday immediately after class, a group of students and volunteers are joining together for Workout Wednesday. Over 35 students have participated in a workout so far and the buzz is growing.
A special thanks to our volunteers Bette and Emily who are rotating weeks of dance aerobics and Zumba. Long time math volunteer, Bette (see 9/15 Blog Entry) is introducing students to a few Elvis tunes as they are twisting the hour away. Emily is a new Dallas resident who has just started her studies at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology. She is a certified Zumba instructor who is showing how much you can sweat as you Samba/Salsa/Merengue your way to better health.
Students are already asking if we can line up more exercise teachers on more days. We’ll see….
